The makers of the wonderful Ultima Underworld games are crowdfunding a new Underworld game. Of course they can't name it *Ultima* but we know... :)

This campaign needs to succeed, so please all pledge at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ot ... -ascendant

(I'm just a fan, not in any way tied with those guys!)

I was just about to start this topic in case I couldn't find it. :P Thank you for beating me to it. Absolutely.

I sent in a truckload. I'm hoping the guys really won't need it, but of all the projects I've seen on Kickstarter, I would be the most completely enraged if they don't get the love that they so sorely deserve. If Chris Roberts can get (and I am amazed that I get to say the word "literally" here) millions of dollars toward his open Wing Commander-like project Star Citizen, then why shouldn't a similarly old-world recreation project get blasted into space with fame and fortune... and women. And booty, phat lootz, etc and so on and such forth.

But seriously, give these guys your money. Warren Spector is working on this project, at LEAST as a consultant. I am fairly certain I would follow him off a bridge given the chance.

The project was successfully funded, with the 850k stretch goal achieved.

I really hope they can somehow accumulate $200,000 in paypal funds. That Underworld Toolkit looks really tantalizing. Who hasn't had a dream of building their own Underworld maps?

I wonder if "Enhanced Music" would involve rehiring The Fat Man. He really brought the original alive... (he also did the sound for the NES Maniac Mansion, which is even more impressive!)

(BTW, speaking of Kickstarter. the Pillars of Eternity engine looks like it could extremely good for remaking an Ultima.)
