Anyone else get the impression that the team made some enemies somewhere along the way?

The project is not dead. The site is. The host removed the site for reason or other, so I'm sure it will be back at some other (less stingy) host.

Probably the hostmaster recived the same fake mail than the team and take down the site before the "legal actions" of EA start.

(Just guessing)

You could well be right. And unfortunately, it probably wouldn't matter to the hostmaster whether any notification was really from EA or not - the website could arguably be violating Origin's intellectual property, and it would be far easier to simply remove the website than try and sort out whether it's allowed or not.

well hey, i run a hosting company so if they do need hosting i can do it really cheap lol.

but personally, being a hosting company, i know that receiving emails like that whether fake or not would cause a hosting client to lose their site until it was proving it was faked or not. they were probably removed for other reasons.

Freehostdeparment will not host us anymore - once we find a new host we will post the link here and redirect our .cjb address.

Bookmark u7chronicles.cjb.net and check back in a week or so, we should be back up by then.
That's the message on the site at the moment. I don't think it's because of anything related to the fake-EA-email issue. It's probably something much more trivial, knowing what crappy hosts can do (for example, they could have exceeded the bandwidth limit).

I still remember when the Exile site was taken down for that exact reason. That was when it moved from Portland to ExodusMachine.
