i can play uw1 & uw2 just fine with music but not speech.
here is the info on my soundcard:
SoundMAX integrated digital audio
resource settings:
I/O Range E400-E4FF
I/O Range E080-E08F
Memory Range FFA7F800-FFA7F9FF
Memory Range FFA7F400-FFA7F4FF
IRQ 17
so i ran uwsound.exe and i see where to change the irq,dma,and port for speech but i cannot tell from the info above what i would change these settings to except for irq that is obviously 17 but what would my dma and port be?

First of all, remember Dosbox is an emulator. It emulates a PC with hardware. So your actual hardware doesn't matter at all if you are running with dosbox.

Now in dosbox run uwsound.exe

it will look parly like this:

Current settings are
sound : a Sound Blaster (detected)
speech: a Sound Blaster (detected)

Or whatever you chose for sound card in uinstall.exe if it says (undetected)
change the parameters for either sound or speech.
I'd mainly concentrate on irq or dma.
And don't forget to save these settings.
If it still not works try if speech is disabled inside underworld.

Oh and last minute idea:
you know that speech only works for the intro (and I think the occasional Guardian taunt)?
