I am playing through the black gate, and every few seconds there is this really annoying ding sound that is played. Can anyone tell me what is causing this and how to stop it?

What are your sound and audio settings in Exult?

Default settings, I have never changed them. I have tried playing the game in DOSBox and the sound seems to be there as well. However it only plays at night for some reason.

Are you using the latest snapshot. Might be the crickets sound. If disable all sfx you shouldn't hear it anymore.
