some suggestions for the future of exult U7 gameplay enhancements.

- Paperdolling for the actual character sprites and not just in the status screen. I dont know how hard this is to implement into u7 but someone is developing a mmorpg called epicbeyond (www.epicbeyond.com) that uses all the original U7 graphics and the game has full paperdolling. For eg, in u7, the avatar always looks like he has platemail on, but in epicbeyond your character looks like what their wearing. Currently in u7 the only paperdolling for the character sprite is the weapon that they are holding. If the exult team could manage to implement this into U7 it would be amazing.

- Perhaps add some fun pointless stuff like the ability to buy a house. Most of the time I spend in u7 is traversing the land and doing whatever I can think of (Seeing as I have already been through the quests in the game) so being able to get a house, decorate it to an extent, and do stuff like going fishing would greatly at to the games freedom. Of course, the game musnt turn into uo too much...I cant stand that thing. So if its possibly to add these features to the game without changing the gameplay of U7 that would be marvelous.

My suggestion (if someone else will do the work:-):

When you buy food at an inn, your party should sit down, and the server should place the food on the table for you to take.

I also like your first suggestion, but it would require a lot of artwork in addition to programming.

(Paperdolling) Already having graphics made from EpicBeyond (if the Exult team can get permission to use them) will make it much easier to do. Someone just has to do it.

You don't need to buy a house because you can steal one, or find an abandoned one, or use Iolo's, or build one with ExultStudio.

actually, the paperdolling requires no art, as it is all in u7. For eg: take the avatars sprite. He wears plate leggings and plate mail (well, the arms anyway) Hence, these graphics can be for when the player is wearing plate. Many of the citizens wear various clothes and equipment. its just a matter of taking apart a sprite, and the game provides enough art that there doesnt need to be any actualy drawn. There is no original art in epicbeyond, all taken from u7.

Some more suggestions:
- The ability to pick up and move all the 'heavy' furniture. This will open up the game so much more allowing players to decorate houses far greater.
- Yes, a player can always steal a house or something, but allowing the player to buy a deed to a house is much more satisfying. And having a sign saying '####'s house' would be good.
- ability to buy a deed for a stove and be able to place it in a house. (yeah I know, this is sounding a lot like uo now)
-ability to type something in and say it (as in the text you type appearing above your characters head) Of course this wouldnt have any effect on the game but I always want to say things in taverns and stuff for fun.

All these suggestions are obviously all based around making the game have further freedom, as I find the game has plenty more potential in this area, and doing all these 'free' activities is so much more fun in u7 than in uo.

The ability to change your NPC's appearance with clothes is a great idea, I've been wondering about that for years. And, the ability to say something above your NPC is another good idea. But moving "heavy" furniture, can't the hack mover do that?

I'd like to see a plugin system somewhat similar to morrowind where you could download other people's new add ons and whatnot and play around with em till your bored and just unclick whatever plugin whenever your done with it. I'd also like to be able to use the serpent isle sprites in black gate and vice versa, there are some cool looking plants and other things in SI i'd like to use in BG.

Hi there,
I totally appreciate your exult-project. But how about also making it converting the eighth part of the fantastic Ultima series as well? While the nineth part is of course already Win-compatible that woul complete the final trilogy of Ultima (7 to 9) beeing transferred to the recent platform XP.

I know it's a BIG suggestion, but one that might bring this project to the next level of pleasure and copletion.

So far so well
bye and greetings from Germany

My suggestions:
- More sprites of characters to increase smoth of movement.
- Yeah, paperdolling. ^^
- A new font for the words. The original can be a few unredeable (only a few).
- And as an imposible, redraw of objects, furnitures, characters etc in high resolution.

The bug where they fail to sit was fixed a few weeks ago. It's still not perfect, in that you sometimes have to wait 2-3 seconds, but I think it's good enough for the upcoming release.

I would suggest the possibility to change that horrible perspective view for new games created with Exult Studio. But I guess that would mean a lot of changes in U7's graphics rendering.

Just for the record;
Ultima IX runs fine on XP. Replayed it recently on a xp based pentiun IV, with a Geforce Ti4800, directx9. All worked well. No need to port it : )

I like Ultima 7's perspective, much more than any 3D games I've tried. Anyway, it couldn't be changed without redoing all the artwork, and that's a LOT of artwork.

I think that a change of the perspective in the games made with exult studio would be a nice one. It could be like the UO perspective.
I think that U7 (the original, not the Exult Studio homemade) cant have the perspective changed, because the doors and windows. Am i wrong?

I understand that, but when you create a new game you propably have to create new artwork anyway, so that shouldn't be a big problem.

I don't see why you couldn't create graphics with a different perspective. As long as the stacking follows the same rules as u7 (something on top of another is shifted to the left and to to top by 1 "unit"), all should simply be a question of how you made your graphics.
