Where did the spellbook end up in SI?

There are 2 buildings north of the Test, go in the right one, and place the
Fire Key and the Ice Key on the pedestal to get the Blackrock Key (which can
be put on the keyring). This key opens the north door on the second floor,
which leads to a Serpent Gate. (you may also find your Spellbook here, but
it will be useless, and therefore won't be covered in the ITEMS section)

Also be sure to pick up the Everlasting Goblet, it is located in the

Where exactly *is* this corpse with the ruined spellbook? I've looked in the place where you find the Ice key and the place where you find the fire key, as well as the place where you merge them to form the blackrock key. There is no such ruined spellbook, and I know what it looks like, as it's listed as item 649, (Do a Ctrl+B in SI to find it.) frame 8. It looks like one of those red pieces of wavy cloth, resembling the avatar costume. Hell, you can find it yourself. Not hard. The questions is, where exactly did it end up within Furnace, if the guide mentions it here? Is the guide misleading?

It is right by the place where you get the serpent staff, but it isn't in a corpse: the spellbook is at (1303, 2568, 0).

It it located in the room that has the key to the Serpent Staff in the furnace and this room also surrounds the room that contains the Serpent Staff. I know the official guide tells you the wrong area and says it is by the Serpent Gate. The book can be easily reached in the beginning of the game since the cave to the south east of Monitor leads to that room.

Ah! Thank you very much! I found it. It was indeed *just* to the right of the tiny cave housing the Serpent staff, lying on the right side of the fur pelt to the right of said room. Too bad nobody seems to be exclaiming "Look, Avatar, thine spellbook hath appeared here! Let us exchange your destroyed spellbook for this bit of furnace debris and contribute to the forces of balance!"
