According to the game manual, the Help spell is supposed to work only once.

According to the Ultima wiki and other sources, it can be used indefinitely, but after the first time it will deduct XP from the player.

According to my experience with Exult and DOSBox, it can be used as many times as you want without any penalty.


So which is it? What's the actual intended behavior?

Exult just replicates what the original games did so if the original games did something wrong exult will be the same unless someone makes a mod to change things
