I don't know if I am doing somethign wrong, or if it is a bug, but I can't manage to get the tree in the Test of Love bleed into my bucket.
I put the bucket on the ground, near the tree (tried many positions, equiped a pick, and attacked the tree, but nothing happens. I hit the tree like 15 times, and no result. Any suggestions?

Try hitting the stone slightly under it, where a big root seems to wind down it, I think. This has befuddled quite a few people. lol

Double-click the pick and select the tree. Don't attack it.

Yep, that was it, thanks.
I got confused because I had the pick in the backpack, and when I doubleclicked on it it said it needs to be equiped, so I thought I'll equip and than attack.

That was a bit of a "bug" per se in the original Forge of Virute as well

Well, if they even bothered to put a message indicating that you have to hold the pick in your hand for using, isn't it obvious that the item is used by double clicking?
No weapon in the whole game responds to double clicking, except the black sword (for speaking with the daemon) and the crossbow bolts (to hear Iolo's comments). Why did they even bother to put a message when you double-click the pick? Simple, because the pick is used by double-clicking.

Yes, but because the only weapons in the game that respond to double-clicking are those two, I didn't exaclty get into the habit of double-clicking weapons.

well, the pick is a tool and not a weapon and tools always activate on double-click. That said I was stumbling over this at least twice on playing the original

Yeah, I figured it out eventually. Only after I vented some frustration on Iolo though

Yes but you see, the game doesn't tell you to doubleclick on the pick, it tells you to USE it on the tree, so I thought that if I equip it, and attack the tree, it will be USED on the tree (at least that's how you would use it in real life right?)

yeah, but logically using means doubleclicking on something, have a target crosshair and choose the target. So strictly speaking, the game is correct.

Feh. Logic never had anything to do with it

I thought in the original game, you can double click the firedoom staff (when equipped), then select a target, and it'll send a fireball of explosion towards your target.
But with Exult running BG+FoV that doesn't happen. Am I remembering something that's only in SI (haven't tested it yet), am I totally wacked, or is it a feature in the original game that's not yet put in Exult?

I never tried that to begin with, so I couldn't tell you.
Would be a nice feature, whether it was in the original game or not, however

In fact, if I remmeber correctly (I might not, sometimes I have a bad memory) the text was soemthing like this; "With the pick hit the tree untill it bleeds". The term "use" wasn't mentioned, so that's what got me confused. Additionally, when I was in the attack mode, and clicked on the tree, it did go to the tree and appeared to hit it.

Yea, but the point is, if you double click on the pick when you are not holding it in your hand, you get a message saying that you must hold it in your hand, and you knew it. It never says you must hold it in your hand AND attack. When you double-click weapons you don't get any message. Why does the pick give a message? Because it has double-click activation. By common sense, you should have tried double-clicking on it once you had it equipped, at least to make sure you don't get a message anymore.
