Oddity: bolts not being used

My Iolo is equipped with a triple crossbow (yeah I'm suicidal), with 81 bolts. However, in combat mode he just stand and not do anything.
I've tried moving the triple crossbow and bolts to the Avatar, turn on combat mode, and attemped to attack deer, doors, chests, etc. The Avatar also doesn't fire a single shot.
My guess is it has something to do with the bolts. At the end of battles, I like to pick up arrows or bolts that are left on the ground. With the ammo fired from the triple crossbow, it is one "item" named "bolt" that has the graphics of three bolts on it. I might have been left with 81 of those bolts which leads to the problem.
Does anyone have any insight?

It may also be the triple crossbow item - I remember that there were difficulties with it's functionality before.

Seems to work okay here, except that it seems like only one bolt is used for each shot. Not sure if that's a bug or not.

No, that was the behaviour in the original game, if I remember correctly. However, for realism's sake, it may be good to change it to consume three bolts every use.

Well, to clarify this, check to see if double-clicking on those bolts gets you a comment from Iolo. There are some bunches of bolts around in the game that don't respond to double-clicks, enchantments, and don't stack with other bolts. If the bolts don't respond to double-click, dump them.
And no, getting the already-fired bolts doesn't lead to this problem. Those do respond to double-clicking.

"Clean" bolts that work with this or not, I still seem to only use 1 bolt.

The fact is, the triple crossbow requires Iolo-branded bolts, or so Iolo implies.

Perhaps I was not clear,
By "clean" I was referring to the ones that work properly double-clicked

Yea, I know
The ones that do not respond to double-clicking don't even work on plain crossbows.

Yeah, I wonder why that is?
