SI Bug?

This is probably another old bug ive come across, but Im so close to the end that I cant bear to start again.
Ive got the serpent staff and am talking to xenka, she is supposed to tell me that one of us must die and to draw straws, but she doesnt recognise that Ive got the staff and tells me to goto furnace to get it.
Does anyone know what flag to change as Im soooo close to the end!
