HELP!
I have a very serious problem with Exult/ Ultima7. The program always quits immediately after finishing the the ultima 7 game menu, as soon as the screen turns red (and as far as I remember from ancient times the red face of this master-bloke appears). No further error message pops up. Nothing. It just quits. Leaving me back crying all day long since I did not manage to get it started even once.
Does anybody know what to do?

what version of Exult and what version of Ultima7?

The versions I use are:
- Exult version 1.1.10rc2
- Ultima 7-The Black Gate, ver. 2.2 (original software, six 3,5'' floppy discs)

I've also tried it with Exult 0.94alpha5 - with the same result. Do I need the Ultima7-Update-Patch? And if yes, how do I install it, because I've tried to execute the unzipped patch files, but it did't work.

Could you post the contents of stderr.txt too?

Maybe your original files are corrupted? If you own the game maybe you should try to get a 'backup' copy from someone else, so you'll know if it's a problem with your computer, or just corrupted datafiles.

I don't think his problem is with corrupted files. He says he installed from floppies. I never had BG in floppies, but I have SI, and it has file verification during install, so I assume BG does too. Anyways, he wouldn't have been able to install the game if the floppies were damaged.
