Configuring for OS X

Post by Ye Olde Pimp Dragon »

I'm a noob when it comes to OS X, and I'm trying to get Exult to work with the Ogg music/SFX packs, but haven't had any luck - could someone walk me through how to do this? Thanks

I assume you've already got Exult working without the ogg music and SFX?

You need to find the 'data' directory, which should be in the same directory as the Exult application (you've got the 1.1.10rc2 build, right?) Create a directory in here called music and then unpack all the ogg files into it.

The jmsfx.flx and jmsisfx.flx files go in the data directory itself.

After that stuff is done your data directory should have these files in it:

exult.flx
exult_bg.flx
exult_si.flx
exultmsg.txt
jmsfx.flx
jmsisfx.flx
midisfx.flx
music/

To get the digital music (oggs) working, start up one of the games (e.g. Black Gate), then hit ESC and select 'Audio Options'. In the 'Music Options' section there is a 'driver' option. Choose 'Digital'. Once that is done quit and restart to make sure it's working properly.

To get the SFX packs working you'll have to edit the 'exult.cfg' file, which is located in ~/Library/Preferences. In the section add these lines:

jmsfx.flx

In the section it's:

jmsisfx.flx

Save the changes and you're done.
