I can't even get Ultima VII to install from the CD. When I put the CD in, open it and click install, I get this error messege:
Program: D:/Gateway/pifmaker.exe
abnormal program termination

It seems you're attempting an install from the Ultima Collection CD.
If so, can you install U7 from the 'Gateway' itself? I believe it's the menu that appears if autostart.exe is launched.
I used to install U7 in this manner (until my girlfriend accidentally threw the CD-ROM away, that is...), and would always get the 'pifmaker' error you are reporting. Since the error only occurred after U7 itself had already been installed, it wasn't really a problem.
Oh well, I hope this is any help.

On the UC cd's you can just copy the ULTIMA7 and SERPENT directories as is to where you want the games to be. Just remember to make sure, depending on the operating system, you un-'read only' all the files.

I found another way, I installed Ultima VII on my father's computer (his computer is older and uses windows 98 so it worked, the pifmaker creates a shortcut to DOS which XP doesn't have I guess that's why I got that error when trying to install it unto my computer). Then I used our network to transfer the Ultima 7 and Serpent directories over to my computer and of course, downloaded the necessary files to get it to work in XP, it works great!
Thanks anyways though.

If it gives you a pifmaker error, you still can play them. They are still installed, but it didn't make shortcuts! It happens on my computer, so don't worry about it. Just go to the directory you said for it to install to.
