French patch for Ultima7

Hi ! I'd like to know if it existing a french patch to download for Ultima7 the Black Gate. If it's possible, where can i download it ?

There is no such patch. The Black Gate was translated and released in French. You may have luck on ebay in getting a French version, I don't know how common that one is, though.

Just like Dominus said, The Black Gate was released as "La Porte Noire" but I must warn you it is quite difficult to understand what they say since they used a French from the 15th century (or older). In the meantime, Serpent Isle (U7 part 2) has been translated in more modern french and you can download a patch on http://sf.net/projects/si-french (shameless plug!!!). There is a Windows Installer to ease the installation of the patch which used to be quite "involving".
Basically, you want to:
* legally acquire Serpent Isle (from eBay or other means)
* download and install Exult using their Installer
* play a bit to make sure it all works well
* download and install SI-French
Unfortunately, since the follower base is small, we don't have a dedicated forum for Si-french (you could always use the mailing-list if you have a problem), so the Exult team kindly allows Exult/Si-french related questions in this forum.

I should also mention that when we are fully 100% satisfied with the translation of Serpent Isle, some of us will be probably looking at translating the Black Gate in more modern french as well.

Just out of curiosity, what's the mount of work in SI's translation? How much time did it take, how much text was translated? I imagine it was a very big task...

It took an average of 3 people about 1.5 years of work (_during spare time only_) to translate all of Serpent Isle.
Now we are doing the proofreading and I think it will take about as much time.
Keep in mind we didn't have the tools we have today and we had to invent them along the way.
There are 1237 functions, 716 of which seem to have actual text to translate.
A rough estimate:
29190 phrases
329668 words
1917850 characters

Impressive. Enought to write two or three romances.
