Oh good Lord NO! Filbercio!

I just love these 2+ hour loss bugs. In this case, it was a bug that was presumably fixed before 1.2. It's the ol' Filbercio disappearing after the Mage banquet bug. Much like the disappearing trainer bug, Filbercio ends up in the Twilight Zone (4080-ish by 4080-ish) and is unrecoverable by any means whatsoever, not in the official 1.2 release that is.

What causes this exactly? I mean I'm honestly just venting right now because I've lost yet another 2+ hours thanks to these stupid characters who like to disappear for no apparent reason.

Obviously I mentioned that I have the official 1.2 relase, and am running Windows XP. I have a Geforce 6800 and nForce audio, although I don't really see what these have to do with anything.

My saves are usually 15-30 minutes apart.

That's pretty awesome. What kind of orange juice do you like? I like mine without pulp. Otherwise it just tastes icky.

Refresh my memory, what do you need Filbercio for after the banquet?

Are you sure he's supposed to be around?

I think you're supposed to go talk to him about Rotoluncia and get his permission to use his barge to go to their...shall we say..."Fantasy Island."

Yes, but that's only after the kidnapping, not directly after the banquet.

Now that you mention it, I don't recall seeing him between those events. So how about it, Michael T.? Have you gotten to the kidnapping yet?

I most definitely did, Eris. I expected him to be in the house, or warp in or something, but he never did. So I slept around his crummy palace for at least 2 days. Still nowhere to be found.

So I switched over to the latest 1.4 snapshot. Re-did the whole banquet, got to the kindnapping part, and in the middle of not being able to be found yet again, Mr. Fatty warped in (no effects, he just sort of 'appeared') sitting at his dinner table.

MAGIC!

It's funny you mention that, because i remember back when i originally played u7p2 i had the same thing happen to me. I used to have random (yet important) NPC's just up and disapear on me, never to be seen again (and without exult's handy NPC finding tool). Always happend in moonshade as well. *shrugs*

Im 99.9% sure he disappeared between the two events in the original Serpent Isle as well, considering I just booted up my old 9 year old fossil and ran it to see ;)

It's a bug that existed in the original SI and still exists (it seems) in Exult. Certain people just disappear, such as the pikeman at the List Field in Monitor. You basically need to load and do it again and hope the same doesn't happen.

Maybe they should have just left out banquets... (the List Field guy disappears during a banquet in Monitor too)

The pikeman at the List Field is not a real NPC. He's created by a usecode egg each time you get near the List Field, but due to a bug in the usecode that opens the banquet doors, his usecode egg is deleted when you start the banquet scene while you're too close to the pikeman.

It's easy to avoid by opening the banquet hall doors only when you're standing really close to them.

The banquets are some of the best events in SI. Just complex usecode.
