Nazghul 0.5 (game engine)and Haxima 1.0 (game) released
Released on December 30th, 2005...
Nazghul 0.5

Nazghul is a computer role-playing game (CRPG) engine. Here's what it looks like when played. Obviously, the emphasis is not on graphics or first-person squad-based stealth action. If you like roguelikes or the top-down, 2d, turn-based CRPG's that disappeared in the early 90's then this is for you.

Haxima 1.0

Haxima is the first full-featured game built with the nazghul engine. It comes packaged with nazghul-0.5.0.

Haxima includes:
  • A complete, playable game
  • U5-like game play
  • Multiple characters in the player party
  • Clone of U5 magic system, with some extras
  • A sizable wilderness
  • Several towns
  • Several dungeons
  • A main quest
  • Several side quests
  • Talking NPC's
  • Scripted game world
  • Open-source engine code

I just played the tutorial. It's pretty good, but I don't like having to remember spells and reagent mixings, that's what a spell book is for. :D I don't mind the mixing, but having some sort of notes (like a spell book) to jot down the spell details as you learn new ones would have been good.

Bliss! This game made me feel exploring again. The text-speach system creates a truly dynamic way of storytelling.

For those who own Ultima V's "The Book of Lore" paper spellbook this game is a blast from the past! With my favourite paper spellbook in hand, lets see of all those homebrewed spells work in this game as well!

Oh.. and dont forget to keep a journal of your adventures... perferably on sun erroded paper as well :)
