Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, visited the local bordello, got
an infectious disease, had a slow and agonizingly short remainder
of life because of it, wept for at my funeral, met St. Peter, waited
for hours in line to the Heavenly Gates, was turned away because
heaven was too full and was considered a fire hazard to bring more
people in, was ironically detoured to hell, met Satan, was offered
to play poker, was deceived as to the nature of that particular usage
of the word 'poker', ended up suing God for the detour, ended up
in Limbo with my lawyers, spent the rest of eterni-

oh forget it.

oh and to wrap it up: It sure would be nice to use it. but 1st you may have noticed some effects missing from the intro. You may have noticed that there is no sound. You may have noticed that there is neither speech nor subtitles.

All that would have to be addressed and add to that the longer running time and that you have to synchronize the music with it.
Then what about the size of it? You would need to compress it and make sure all our supported platforms make use of it.
That's whole lot to do.
Fimbulty are you volunteering to do this?

I certainly wouldn't want to even if I had the skills. It's a nice idea in theory, but not practical IMO, even neglecting the consideration of the file size.

years later...

https://youtu.be/ztAsKFSo_b0

After all it wasn't actually too hard. Most of the time was spent converting the avi back to flic format and then splitting it up in the same segments as the original flics. This took care of the LB/Guardian scene as this is exactly the same. Then our code needed a bit of tweaking https://pastebin.com/4mGvtvSg (this one also makes the castle scene better than in that video) and the flics had to be put into a patche INTRO.DAT (easy with expack)...

But this is mostly a mockup to prove it is possible. Apart from the question how to implement the code is not sfx and music friendly yet.

The intro music would need to be re-composed to match the time in the video. Would be possible to record as a .ogg file.

I physically own 2 Roland MT-32's, I might possibly give this a try. The composition software I use (Sonar) actually has video timestamp synching for a score.

I'd be interested in putting this in my mod.

Any additional new music would also be handy, aiming to expand on the existing music styles.
