OT: Ultima 7 trailers

I played with my video-editing software recently and created a couple of Hollywood-style Ultima 7 trailers - one for each of the games. English subtitles are available (turn them on during playback).

Very very good! The power of a simple trailer should never be understimated, that couple movies alone (expecially if remade with english text) could bring lots of people to try U7/SI :)

Some suggestions:
BG - don't make the "ultima" logo shake in the beginning
BG - make the avatar walk slower, to avoid the "chaplin" effect
BG - party! where are the companions? :)

SI - avoid the part with the ship, it's really too much cartoonish, lo-fi 3D
SI - the various virtue writings appearing here and there: make them all the same font and colour, appearing and fading but not shaking. (an excellent rendition of ultima related words overlaid on the movie is from one of the original Ultima IX trailers that now I can't find on youtube).

I like these, Except for the link to that russian site. Is that an abandonware site? I'd really not like to see that linked to here :)

Very well done.

"SI - the various virtue writings appearing here and there: make them all the same colour"

The colors look alright the way they are to me. The thing I would change is the TBG logo that appears twice in the SI trailer.

Thank you for the comments! I think I'm going to rework the trailers sometime soon, maybe create an "Exult edition" - in English and with Exult website promo link instead of our site.

I would love to redo in-game footage for the BG trailer, however I haven't been able to grab video from Exult - so I had to resort to various youtube videos for that part and later I decided to use Dosbox to record footage for the SI trailer. My original plan was to highlight Exult-specific features of U7 - high-res graphics, paperdolls, Keyring, TFL, etc.

Concerning the ship from the SI intro - it's authentic 1993, what did you expect? :) I toyed with the idea to use some custom-made CGI for the trailer but I was too lazy to even attempt it.

Yes I know it's the original CG :) But you could have left that piece out anyway. By the way, I may be wrong but I think what you used is Daniel Loubet's "uncut" version, which wasn't actually included in SI. A short version was used to fit in a single disk, and I think that ship scene was one of parts that were left out even back then! :)

Yeah, I used both versions of the video for completeness and variety. Loubet's doesn't have the "passage through ice" shot.

That would be nice but why have a link there either way, just keep it linkless :)

Please, no CGI, if you do the trailer, then it should contain stuff from the game and not stuff you can't actually see in the game. I liked your using of the trailer. It's in the game and the game IS ages old. The trailer stuff will not be more cartoonish and lo-3d for todays gamers than the whole game is :)

So the final scene with the Guardian and the black gate in the TBG trailer isn't custom-made CGI? Where is that scene from, then? I don't remember ever seeing it in the game...

Oh, and the logo and virtue writing are perfect the way they are. I hope you don't listen to Andrea about that part.

- please chose another name, just - is a bit annoying when answering. If you haven't finished bg yet, you can't tell custom cgi from orginal one :)

If finished it, and from what I remember, the final movie was different from the one I saw in the trailer (the Guardian was much bigger, so it only showed one of his arms and his face when he was trying to cross the black moongate). Is my memory slipping?

I'm pretty sure it is slipping.
I like to call people proper names. This is bad netiquette.

Noname, the Guardian reaching out from the Black Gate is in the original game, the final scene.
