ship destroyed?

I was in a ship off the coast of Serpents' Hold and I was attacked by those green tentacle things. They attacked a few times and all of a sudden half of my ship dissapeared as if it had sank in the water. I could still walk on those tiles, but only half of the ship was still there. Is this intentional? It would be pretty cool if your ships could get damaged, but I figured it was a bug?

I'm sure it's a bug.

Were you able to sail the ship?

I've said it before and I will say it again;

Exult is so cool, even the bugs are awesome!

I had this happen as well, but not in combat. Part of my ship disappeared and I had to buy a new one.

And now more seriously - how about implementing such possibility? I.e. to sink ships, fight sea battles etc.?

OK, but supposing your own ship got sunk. What happens next? In Ultima V (and I think VI as well but I'm not sure) when your ship got sunk you transferred to a skiff. There's no skiff in VII but, then, the original didn't have shiny pants. The simplest consequence to being sunk, I suppose, would just to wake up in Paws.

How would ships get sunk, anyway? VII doesn't have cannons on ships. What does the enemy do? Attack the hull with corkscrews?

the ship was pretty much stuck after that and I had to teleport.

On the idea of actually implementing this...

If there was a way to give the ship "hit points" and attackable by monsters/npcs, then you could have Julia do the "repairs". I guess it could be a few actions (such as her swinging her hammer) then 'healing' the ship's hit points as if it were an npc or something.

The skiff idea might actually work. If the ship is destroyed, take away the rails, mast, sail, seats, hold, etc... leave only the floor. Have the barge code act like the Ice Raft barge of SI, and have one of the NPC's say something about needing to get to shore before the 'raft' sinks. Possible?

an addendum to my last post -

having the Ice Raft barge code would allow the remaining portions of the ship be "clickable" to where it would activate the barge and everyone can just stand instead of sit down.

What about sea dragons [or serpents, or whatever they are called] and tentacles?
