So far all I have to show is some mockup art.
Now, let's play name the reference! Actually there are four in the picture, but one is mostly obscured.

Almost hints of a MD crossover with the ruby ugg boots. They look like MY slippers.

I'm not going to reveal the story, but this mod is going to have various items from other Ultima games. I'm trying to think of stuff people would remember, but not too many which are central plot items. In these pictures we have the M60, dragonskin boots, storm cloak, skull key and blue tassel. Suggestions are welcome!
The cornucopia I intend to be a combination of Everlasting Goblet and Ring of Shal for U7. A powerful item, yes, but it is also going to be big and bulky for one thing.
By the way, can anyone provide me with a picture of what the Chaos Sword looks like in Lazarus?

Well, I got my hands dirty with the map editor lately. The area I have planned shouldn't take too long.
Does this look enough like a demonic chapel?

The cornucopia looks awesome!

Thanks. I've tweaked it a bit since. It occurred to me that the contents pouring out look too flat, so I added more shadow to the bottom ones.

It needs to be more filthy. It's too clean! Some vomit, dirty diapers, spiderwebs, burnmarks need to be added!

Yeah, I took a look at places like Fellowship halls and Horance's abode, and my chapel looks quite bare in comparison.

Ha! Who says just because you're evil means you can't use a broom?!? I'd recommend using the church-esque drapes and carpets from the Fellowship Halls (maybe in blacks and reds) but unless you're going for an abandoned look, IMHO, I'd leave out the garbage!
As far as items from past Ultimas you could bring back:
The Codex Coin
The Book of Truth
The Bell of Courage
The Candle of Love
The Silver Tablet
Hawke's Treasure Map
The Book of Prophecy
The Hot Air Balloon (non-functioning but still ambitious)
The Royal Museum was lacking... I guess they didn't have enough room for real relics after they got their hands on those swamp boots of dubious pedigree.
Beh Lem looks really good, BTW!

The Codex Coin, The Book of Prophecy, The Book of Truth, The Bell of Courage and The Candle of Love all already exist in other mods.

I've considered most of those, but decided against them. In part it was because they are too central to the plots, and I'm trying to steer away from that. The other thing is the lack of practical value. Of course, these are not set-in-stone criteria. The balloon is an interesting thought. Thanks for that.
I am planning to involve at least one thing from Ultima 9. Be very afraid.

Can anybody offer suggestions on how to implement an Ultima 6 -style anti-magic effect that affects spell-casting NPCs? I looked through Marzo's usecode documentation and nothing really jumped out to me. Maybe I just need to read it closer.

Does the Kissme effect not work on anyone besides the Avatar?
Re: A small mod in progress

by Crowley
Nope. There is a wizard and a lich found on Ambrosia who are both fully capable of throwing magic your way if you lead them back to the anti-magic zone. Currently I am considering attaching some kind of usecode event to the spell items when they are equipped that would prevent their use. There are problems in that NPCs should still be able to fight otherwise during the anti-magic effect, and regain use of the spells once it finishes.

For some reason I got the bright idea of making the mystic armor for Exult graphics. Here's my result, which I based on the cover art of Ultima VI:

Isnt the Mystic Armor just the 'Magic Armor' in U7/U7Pt2?? Cant remember if there was actually a seperate Magic and Mystic Armor in 4/5 and I cant even remember if there IS Mystic Armor in 6...
The Magic Armor in 7 looks more like the character on the cover of U5... I like yours better hehe..

Looks like there indeed was no magic armor in Ultima V apart from the mystics, but I do remember it existing in Ultima IV. That is mainly because I can remember the class restrictions made it so that the overall anti-magic fighters couldn't use magic chain or plate armor, but paladins could.

Okay, now, seriously, that armor looks freakin awesome.
That should be put into the game to replace the paperdoll graphic for magic armor.

Could it be added as a new armor altogether??
I want my cool avatar uniform for me, screw the companions they can wear that red magic armor stuff!!

Nice work! for the chapel and the extra candles dem*er* suggested by Dominus, something I've seen in churches are these huge 'banks' of candles, placed stepped altars. You might also consider cutting the candles out of the holders and scaling/re-painting them, adding pools of wax perhaps...
hmmm...another thing for me to try. No wonder games really need a team to get things rolling, or, dripping.

Elevating the altar section is a good idea. I'll give that a try. Hopefully the big statue isn't too tall to cause problems there.

I've finished the armor graphics except for gloves. Those damn things are troublesome, since the game uses the same graphics for both male and female gloves on the paperdoll, while the forearms are very different. That explains why the gloves already in the game all look like huge mittens. Maybe I'll just leave those out.

If you're using Exult you can have separate graphics for male and female gloves. The description for the gender field in the paperdol_info.txt file:
#gender: 1 if has different frames for male/female, 0 otherwise. The frame numbers
# given are for the female paperdolls, and they are increased by 1 for the
# male versions.

First of all, for the Mystic Armor... I love you!
Second... bringing something in from 9, and we should be afraid....
Could it be... *gasp* THE PLOT?! 'tis the only thing -I- fear!
But seriously, my suggestion was going to be... the Mystics.
Always wondered what happened to them after 5...
Maybe a phazor? *snicker*
The art looks awesome, keep it up!

Would be interested in using the mystic armour graphics in TFL, if you would be so kind.
I like the looks of the screenshots, makes me envious that I don't really have that much pixel art talent. Also makes me want to post some new shots from TFL now that I got going again

Sure, you can use this stuff in Feudal Lands. I'll put together what I have (which would be all except the gloves) and send them to... that "contact" email address on your site?
