just a combat question

Just a question about combat. I realize that this is Exult, not Ultima 7 and that working out the combat system is still going to be a long difficult task, but I have a question about the killing of innocent NPCs. In the original there are many NPCs out in the wilderness or in the underpopulated towns, whom you can kill without guards ever caring, like the adventurers in Dungeon Detard for example. Now in Exult no matter where the npc is, the guards will come, like the guards get called on you in the middle of dungeon Destard. Is this an Exult "feature"? or is it a NPC flag no one has figured out yet? Or is it just a work in progress? Just curious because this is kinda distracting as I go about the countryside slaughtering innocents :)

I don't think there's a flag. Most likely, the original engine checks for your general location, and we don't.

Or maybe there's a usecode function we haven't figured out yet.
