To the Exult community:

have you even wondered why Lord British has sent a cartographer to SI ? Could it be that he planed to invade SI and make it part of his tenure ?

Maybe the people from SI are right when they call him the Beast British!

Artaxerxes your translation efforts and travels throughout the land speaking to everyone have turned you into a SI sympathizer. :)

Maybe the people of SI aren't that wrong.

Maybe LB has indeed *FORCED* them to change their way of life. They had to flee for the sake of their persona and now, LB is making a come back by sending his Champion and his companions to the land under the excuse of getting a sage but he also sent a cartographer likely to present back to LB what interesting areas are to be overtaken.

Additionally, did Gwenno, Batlin, Scott, Ruggs and the whole rest come with the same boat ? I mean, Gwenno is married to Iolo and Iolo and the rest fought teeth and nails against Batlin for a while! Could it be she was kidnapped by Batlin ?

Also, Scott says he is sent by LB. How come LB would let Batlin leave the island along with Scott and the rest ? Don't they watch who's loaded in the ship ?

Batlin got to SI by way of the blackrock obelisk that was transported by his henchmen - on the ship with Gwenno and the other sailors. You can see the shattered remains of it in the Fellowship camp. One of the sailors (Ruggs?) says that it exploded after they arrived, and when the smoke cleared, Batlin was standing there looking very angry about something.

The sailors who were his henchmen weren't known to be so until after the arrival of the Avatar. Essentially, Gwenno, Leon, Ruggs and Scots were the only decent ones to arrive on the first boat. I got the idea that Leon was basically a clueless dope who didn't really know what was behind the Fellowship - so I don't count him as evil.

Also isn't is true that Gwenno left before the Avatar even arrived in Britannia? At that stage, no one knew what the Fellowship really was.

Gwenno left a LONG time before we found out what the fellowship was. Remember the note she left Iolo at their house in Yew?

As stated above, Batlin didn't come on the ship. He (presumably) used some spell to transport himself to the blackrock pillar that had been brought along on the ship.

If you followed every little snippet of information in both games you would of found out that Batlin going to the SI was the guardian's contingency plan, since he was foiled by the black gate blowing up (thats why the black obelisk was planted on the ship which was a joint effort between the fellowship and LB). What I always wondered though is when Batlin got killed opening the wall of lights was he trying for personal power/betraying the guardian, or was he trying for personal power/stopping the guardian at the same time because he figured out that it would be bad if he showed up?
Would be very ironic if the whole time in SI he is trying to stop the guardian but just going about it the evil way. (as the avatar is trying to stop him himself) ;)

From what Selena and Batlin say, Batlin was trying for personal power - enough to rival the Guardian, and perhaps challenge the Guardian directly.

Of course, this was exactly what the Guardian wanted...

Dread Lord, Why would LB help plant the obelisk? Ack I think that theory is bogus LB might wanna destroy SI but come on give the goon some credit here he does care for his people and Batlin and the fellowship tried to help the Guardian take over Brittania, Ack this is too dammn confusing lol, but lets just say I shut up now... And go do something productive...

Well in the situation of LB helping to plant the obelisk he was just an ignorant party, Ooo thou hast found a new substance, Blackrock! Nobody really knew the properties and uses of blackrock but the guy who was researching it, Rudyom, (oh and the Guardian of course) and he was just as insane as all the other mages.
Plus if you think about it, you are some guy from earth, get teleported to a strange land where you find out you have awesome magical powers and can't die easily, and you become king of all the known world, (after certain other kingdoms for some reason disappear or get destroyed, right after your champion gets involved too, how fortunate) suddenly you find out, hey there is a place called SI out there that I don't rule over. What would you do?

Lord British doesn't seem like the conquering type, and I got the impression in SI that it was the Fellowship's (IE, Batlin's) idea alone to bring that obelisk on the ship.

Aside from which, LB would be too busy dealing with the reconstruction efforts back in Britannia to consider going to war - and going to war for mere conquest would hardly be considered as virtuous to begin with.

I thought all the Britannians on SI were part of the Fellowship expidition. I don't remember any of them saying they were sent by Lord British.

Scott the cartographer is not a member of the fellowship. He says it himself during the trial in Fawn. He says himself he was send by LB actually.

LB knows of SI in the intro he says it is his worst fear... And he isnt just an idiot people made king he is a great man (in the game atleast hehe) And if he really wanted to take over SI he would have sent his soldiers not the Avatar and a few friends, the Avatar is more his spy... however he does make a great one man army after FoV :)
Well lata dayz ppl
