ubuntu 12.04, music, SFX, Exult SVN

hi!

I was able to make music work by setting:

128:0

and disabling digital music
(with digital music, I tried all possible paths to put the "music" path with the ogg files, but none worked, but my guess is alsa is not playing wave(ogg) files, despite aplay does)

now my problem is enabling SFX
exult could only find the SFX files when I typed the full path to them

/home//Installed/Exult/data/blckgate/gamedat/sqsfxbg.flx

again, as I believe these SFX files are some kind of wave digital ogg sound or something, alsa fails again; any tips on this?

thx!

In the data folder that is specified in the data tag in exult.cfg. Not the gamedat folder. That is a temporary folder and should only be filled by exult.

I still dont have the SFX coming out,
but the files now are being found! thx!

this log proves that the files are being found (I had not these logs b4):
Opening digital SFX's file: "/sqsfxbg.flx"
Digital music : /home//Installed/Exult/share/exult/music

so, the sound is not playing or something..
it seems to only make any sound if I use alsa,
again I think the problem is on alsa being able to play wave (digital?) files,
it seems to be able to play midi files but not digital ones...

anyone have any tips on this issue? (I think it is specific to ubuntu using pulseaudio + alsa)

I have this setup:
- midi driver: unixseqdevice
- device type: GM
- SFX: enabled
pack: Roland MT-32

initially, with:
- digital music: disabled
I get menus music
but ingame music it TOO low,
so I just enable digital music, and disable it again, and the ingame music gets higher good enough to be heard (still low considering I have every volume setting of the OS at 100%)

but, I wonder if I am getting any SFX,
what are they anyway? footsteps? dog barking? cats? birds?
if so I hear nothing of that :(

I'm at work, so can't check. But I have SVN Exult on Ubuntu 12.04, and didn't do anything special to get music and SFX working.

The SFX should be the sounds you get when you open/close doors, turn on lamps, etc.
