Centipede and Silver Serpent

Hi everyone :)

I searched the previous posts and couldnt find any about this...

*In Ultima 7 The Black Gate there are 2 invisible monsters... The Centipede
and the Silver Serpent mentioned in the rulebook are nowhere to be found.
Were they tossed aside before release or am I blind? (Heck, I passed the
game more than 10 times, so if they're hiding somewhere they're hiding
rather well!!!)
*Serpent Isle's Balancing the Scales mentions the "Zot Wand" as a weapon.
Is this a referrence to the poison bolts sprayed by the Serpent Staff when
you DBLclick on it? I dont think it is since "Zot Wand" has a Damage of 8 and
a reach of 8... the staff's poison missiles arent hurting anything on impact.
Is this wand somewhere in the game?

I know it's not Exult-related, however I'm really puzzled by this...

Congratulations for your good work! And sorry for my english, I'm french-canadian!

I always thought the Zot wand is the Lightening wand, since the
Lightening wand isn't in the list of weapons, and Zot sounds kinda
like Zap...

I think the beast section of the rule book was recycled from older Ultimas,
not very sure, and I think those two monsters were not in U7.

The Silver Serpent was probably included because of its historical connections and its relation to the silver serpent venom that was in the game.

I suspect that the 'Zot Wand' referred to the magician's wands, the branch-looking ones that fired plain magical bolts.

There is a strange wand in the cheat room on Erstam's Island. You'll have to look for it-it's an odd green looking thing amongst the big weapon room. I don't think it does anything, but that may be because the coding wasn't there.

The Silver Serpent wasn't in the final game due to technical reasons.

There's a wand in SI that raises the height of the object you target. It will prompt you for a number if that's the one.

also reminds me, though this is majorly off topic...

In the Ultima 6 manual, it mentions a tangle vine, though for all my playing the game I've never been able to find this carniverous vine plant. I've found reapers but they're different.

I remember in Savage Empire there was a tangle vine, but none in U6...

Tangle vines were occasionally encountered in swampy regions, as I recall. I don't think I ever met one elsewhere.

The tangle vines in U6 are found in lots of places. Check out Verity Isle, for example. They're really annoying, too, as they grow constantly AND spray sleep gas.

The easiest one to find in U6 is indeed on Verity Isle, just south of Ephemeride's house and observatory.

Thanks everyone! (even if it breaks my heart to know that I wont get to kill this 15-feet-long worm... remember U6? Hehe)

As for the other monsters in the bestiary, they're all there... exept for the weird Centipede.

Colourless Dragon: if the Silver Serpent wasnt there due to technical reasons, I bet the Centipede wasnt there for the same reasons.

Well... guess I'll stop blowing that Gargoyle Horn in Britain's museum, now :(
Oh, and as for the wand in Serpent Isle's cheat room I'll have to check... it might be it.
