A fatal bug in game...

I'm afraid, that it's just me, as no one has sent this kind of thing yet, but for some reason, three spells don't work at all, anywhere, any place. All are from 4th Circle, but some spells of that circle still work. Those spells are Mark, Recall and Seance. The last one is fatal, as now I'm unable to speak with anyone at Scara Brae (exept that old healer lady). I got all needed reagents and 30 in both intelligence and magic.
Is it a bug, or is it fault of my computer? And any suggestions, how could I fix it?
Thank you.

What version of exult are you using? (And on what OS?)

What exactly happens when you do try to cast one of them? A small puff of smoke? Or does nothing happen at all?

Version is the 0.96 beta (newest one, I guess) and OS is Windows 98. I usually run it in window.
What happens is, that when I doubleclick, first click sets the bookmark, as usual, but second does nothing, no matter, how fast or much I doubleclick. Still, all other spells of that circle work perfectly.

Strange.

Are you sure you really have the right reagents? (Is the number near the spell greater than zero?)
Also, do you have enough mana?

Try enabling cheats and pressing alt-w (arch-wizard mode). Does it work after that?

I got tons of every reagent and my mana is full (I don't use much spells and I have finished Forge of Virtue).
It strangely worked with Archwizard mode, but I can't understand, why it didn't work otherwice.

You could try the latest development snapshot to see if it's any bug we fixed since the version you have. It's on download page in the 'snapshots' section.

if it worked in Archwizard mode it should do so in normal gameplay unless you don't meet the requirements.
Did you check your experience?
it must be at least 4 or 5 to cast (i think)

I had all requirements done.
I can't understand, why it didn't work...

But another bug, which I could just as well post here: After I've beaten the ugly bastard inside Deceit generator and double clicked the box, something definately happens, but mini-tetrahedron doesn't appear nor does the generator destroy. What could be the problem in this?

Now that we're at it, I seem to have problems with the Mark spell, too. No matter what I do, where I put the rune (wasn't it supposed to be put on the ground? I can't remember) etc. the spell always fizzles ie. a small puff of smoke and a sound indicating "you screwed up". This is using couple days old snapshot on WinXP and happens with Archwizard mode on, too.
Any ideas?

You have to cast Mark on a virtue stone, not a rune.

I think I need to put that one into the FAQ (can you remind me someday?) that you have to use the stones not the runes....

Iolo tells you that the stones would be useful during your first visit to the museum (also suggesting that you steal them... since they "technically belong to you"). I beleive the U7 documentation also stated that the "Mark" and "Recall" spells required the Virtue Stones, not the Runes.

It's more UO contamination ;)

I am using Exultwin32.exe

I haven't bothered with Mark or Recall spells as yet, but I am using the Sceance spell with no problem. My Avatar is Level 7 at this time, with only a 19 Intelligence. I'm still farting around, solving "minor" quests mostly, having fun decorating the dollhouses by using cheats - creating objects and using Hack Mover. The only reason I'm casting Sceance is so I can deal with the Wisp Quest. i.e. get Alagnar's notebook by solving the problems in Skara Brae so I can boot that Wisp out of the fortress North of Britannia in order to finish decorating the Fortress. I'm not seriously going after the baddies as yet. ;}

My sincere gratitude to the people working on Exult! I missed Ultima terribly. I dumped Baldur's Gate 2 midway through the game after downloading Exult. Druther travel with "Old Friends" and decorate that fortress! Iolo's Cabin, Smith's Stable and Julia's home in Minoc are all looking just lovely now. Smith's Stable is also well stocked with sleeping potions and powders for Smith the Horse so that my Avatar can get some .... um... sleep... :}

Ladies, just curious, which of the companions would YOU share a stable with? I'm torn between Dupre and Tseramed.

Oh, yeah, while I am thinking of it, I tried starting Serpent's Isle and it just kept bugging out on me. I'll pay more attention to exact details on that "bug" and get back with you people later.

That's the spirit. Thanks. When you find out where it bugs you out please also try with the latest binary snapshot from our download page (assuming you use a Windows OS).
