keyring bug w/ 1.5

With Exult version 1.5.0svn, the keyring does not work in BG. Everything else about the keyring mod works as far as I can tell, but the item itself doesn't work. It will accept keys, but they just disappear and the item won't open anything, and if you try to dump the keys via Iolo Exult crashes.

However, in Exult version 1.4.9rc1, the keyring works perfectly. However, I had to modify the keyring.cfg file because it set the minimum exult version to 1.5.0, even though its signature item fails to work in that version.

This may be well known, but if so I can't find any reference to it (aside from the note that version 1.5 is 'unstable'). Strangely, the serpent isle keyring works fine in 1.5.0svn.

Are you using latest 1.5svn and latest keyring mod?
If yes, please provide a savegame with the keyring.
If no, please try the latest first and please report back how that works.

I pity the fool that doesn't use daily builds of exult+keyring+si mods (ps: use linux).

I think that I am, but I'm really not sure. The version of 1.5 is from Feb 26, is there a more recent build? If so, where can I find it? (apologies if this is something I can search for -- I looked). As for the keyring mod, I have two different (extremely similar) versions, one from Marzo's website and one from sourceforge, and I tried both with the same consequences. The most recent one is from January 16. Is there a more recent version?

I too am having this issue...

I have tried both the one listed in the thread exult.info/snapshots/....
and the one on Marzo's website (can't get to it right now, was able to earlier)...

And I am using the 1.5 snapshot posted on 2013-02-25 23:31

This is standing in front of a house which I have the key for before I have put any keys on the keyring.

Alt-K and clicking the door can unlock it.
Hitting K and then clicking on the avatar, then hitting K then clicking on the door reports adding 9 keys (which are removed from inventory) and leaves the door locked.

And paulo, your pity is neither wanted nor appreciated, I do run linux on two of my machines, but three of them are windows boxes and the one I usually game on is windows [for obvious reasons, you want to wrangle with wine and emulation for most games, have fun].

I'm saying 'make sure you're actually using the latest keyring; instead of a version you stuffed into the U7 dir 1.2 years ago'

And what is missing is the how... all the published directions talk about either downloading the one from the exult.info/snapshot/... directory [1.2 years old or so] or the one from Marzo's website [which is more recent but difficult to get to as it seems to keep going down].

Both of which were tried, neither of which work.

Just found another issue with that combination... prior to doing FoV and the keyring quests, I did the quest where you bring the bill from the castle to the mayor of cove and back...

However even though I completed that, the questgiver still has the option to give the bill back (even though it is already out of your inventory and well gone) and the lake doesn't appear to be any cleaner.

Anyone know of a way to reset the quest or summon the signed bill? I tried resetting her met flag but that doesn't seem to do squat.

Ok... never mind about the the Cove Cleanup quest... [the keyring itself is still broken] there is still the dangling talking point after you hand in the bill...
i.e. you can hand back in the bill, which removes it from your inventory and the option to hand in the bill is still there which if you click it complains you lost the bill... but it still triggers the cleanup... it was just very subtle and slow so I missed the progress it had made.

The keyring was broken in SVN revision 7363 https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=d ... tid=102335
Thanks for the savegame, helped me pin down when it was broken.

Willem tracked down what caused this in that revision and we reverted it for now until Marzo can evaluate it. Next snapshot should have it. OS X snapshot is uploading right now and Kirben will eventually do the Windows snapshot.

Thanks again for finding this issue and reporting it.


Edit: seems Kirben is away for a bit. There isn't yet an updated snapshot for Windows
