I remembered this offering cold protection, but it doesn't seem to be doing so. I double checked here:

and the suggestion is that it does.

And I'll see if I can find anything obvious about the helm not working correctly.

The helm of Light should give protection against cold of 10 points.
All the helmets and their protection points
Magic 5
Great Helm 5
Viking 15
(all other helmets with shape 542 5)
Leather 10
Fur Cap 35
Serpent Crown -8
Living Toupe 20
Womans Fur Cap 35
Helm of Light 10

I haven't had time to test but in the cheat screen (f2 -> n -> 0 -> n (see the warmth value)) you can see the stats of the avatar and I think some kind of value for how cold or how protected against cold he is.

Edit: Just tested and the helm of light indeed gives 10 warmth points.

Ah okay. I thought I remembered wearing it being adequate along with a cape and boots, but I guess my memory is off. Odd that they would list it as a relevant stat on that site.

I wasn't really aware there were such varied numerical values (I'm just a player of the game, haven't programmed in years and certainly don't know anything about the inner workings of Exult).
Thanks for the heads up. I love these games. I should probably dig in some day... The work you guys do blows my mind.

Well, the description is right, it *does* add cold protection (10 points instead of 0), just not as much as a fur cap
And gwanni cloak, gwanni fur boots and helm of light probably offers enough protection. Just don't let the Gwanni see you like this...
