Discipline Shrine Y-shapes

A couple issues I'm noticing with these:

The depressions themselves are movable, Despite the book saying quart left, obsidian right, the obsidian seems to work (with purple flash animation) and create the bridge on the left, while the one on the right doesn't seem to do anything. Placing the quartz on either side doesn't seem to stop the altar from zapping you. They also seem to stack oddly.

I posted this on the bug-tracker as well. I've been coming here for years off and on, but I have never fully understood proper protocol. I take it things like this belong in the tracker and not here?

These things almost always belong to the bug tracker. Here they are quickly forgotten.
You can discuss them here anyways though ;)

Also a savegame is often needed. In this case it would be great, too ;)

Save uploaded! Thanks for explaining the process.

I guess I'll keep posting things here as well as I notice them. Keeps things active!

hmm, according to some walktrhough it is obsidian left and quartz to the right.

And that's how it seems to work, when you enable egg view. You can see that when you place the quartz one to the left the egg controlling the trap disappears.

Unfortunately there is the real bug: traps with controlling eggs don't work correctly - see https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=d ... tid=102335 :(

Can you find me the book where it says which is which?

To save you the in-game difficulty (it's in the books upstairs through the left stairs), check here:

http://www.notableultima.com/literal/Books_SI.html

If you Ctrl + F "obsidian", it's the only entry that comes up. Hope that helps.

Would that egg issue explain why the traps don't stop when the quartz is placed on either side? (neither side does the tell-tale purple sparkles like it does for the obsidian [though in that case on the wrong side]).

He he he... It doesn't mention on which side of the altar you have to stand ;)
Obviously the game creator thought you stand in between the serpent and the altar... Priceless ;)
At least this part seems to work as the original as the available walkthroughs all mention left instead of right. So it was probably always a bit confusing.

And yes, the egg issue is why the traps don't work. When I return in a couple of days I'll try to reproduce with the original.

Thanks for finding this bug while reporting another one ;)

The though of a perceptive (because left and right can mean pretty much anything) crossed my mind, as well... but is surely not what they meant hahah. Likely just a mistake that everyone has just lived with since.. much like getting zapped isn't really that big of a deal.

Glad to help! Thanks again for all your work!
