i´ve tried Exult today for the very first time, and gladly i could see one of the best games ever running again (thanks for your time and effort in this)
my question is:
is it possible to import original U7 saved games into Exult format ?
Exult saves games in the the format: exult##si.sav, while the original saved: GAME##.U7 files.
I tried renaming *.u7 (my old savegames) into *.sav files but when loaded in Exult the program exits (though the original name given to the saved game is shown in the load game menu)
thanks in advance.

Re: Q: import original U7 saved games into Exult format ?
No and I doubt it will ever be possible (if I remember answers of Exult team members on previous questions like this, I think it is even in FAQ).
Renaming save files has no sense, names are not important, content is what counts.
There is no proper programming documentation to Ultima 7. Exult was designed to behave like Ultima 7, but it is not Ultima 7. It uses Ultima 7 resources as much as possible, but the save game format is different (basically what Exult needs to save is saved, without much thinking about how Ultima 7 precisely did it).
I guess it would be possible to make some convertor, but it would take quite a lot of effort.

thanks for the answer, i understand... it could be nice but with a great deal of effort and time, and probably not worthy.
