Keyring mod, or Forge first?

Hello All,
I'm attempting to play through Ultima 7 with the wonderful Keyring mod. Should I do the Forge of Virtue first, or the Keyring quest?
Thanks!

AFAIK the order of it doesn't matter. But if you want the stats boost and the black sword, grab that first

Gotcha Dominus. Thanks! I went ahead, and did most of the Keyring quest, but decided I might need the stat boost of the Isle of Fire before I complete the last part... Tried the ending once, heh!
I've been completing a few side quests here, and there along the way. I do have one problem in that I gave the signed Lock Lake clean-up bill to Miranda in the early morning hours (she was in her normal seat). When I went back to Lord Heather in Cove, he said he already signed the bill, and gave no indication that cleanup had commenced. I went back to Miranda, and she acts as if I never gave her the signed bill. So, the bill has disappeared.
Thanks for continuously making U7 still great to play, by the way! I've always had an idea for a new side plot. That's another reason why I'm playing to refresh my memory of the details of the game.

Also....
In the Forge of Virtue, the Dragon at the end of the test of Courage refuses to die. I used the Black Sword's death power against the Dragon, and she compliments me on my attack just as she did before I got the sword, and disappears to rest. The door to the north stays closed. I've come back several times, and it is the same cycle.

we'd need a savegame before the dragon, to test for regression.

Just now put it in the bug tracker also.

Doh! Forgot to mention that it is with the Keyring mod on the bug tracker.... I don't see a way to edit it after it has been submitted.

I fixed the topic - thanks for providing the savegame both here and the bug tracker.
BUT I couldn't quite reproduce the problem:
My first run ends in me not being close enough for Arcadion to do its death magic and before I could get closer the dragon renders me unconscious.
Then I reloaded, ran up to the dragon, pressed i for inventory, told Arcadion to do its death magic on the dragon and he did that correctly.
I wonder, though, what version of the keyring mod do you use?
The latest with some bugfixes is at

(SI Fixes at

The versions on Marzos Seven Towers site are unfortunately not up to date.

added the mods to our download section now so I don't have to link them manually every time they come up

Excellent Dominus! I won't be able to test again until probably Sunday night / Monday, but yes, I did use the Keyring mod from Marzos' Seven towers site. I will try the updated version as soon as I get the chance.
In the game, what I did previously was run up to the dragon, double-click on the Avatar, then I double-clicked on the Black Sword to talk to Arcadian (didn't use a hotkey).

Hmm, strangely, even the actual version from January on Marzo's site still works fine.
Did you download the mod recently or was that before January 2013?

I downloaded the mod about Dec. 03, 2013 from Seven Towers, and installed it. However, there may be a number of factors. My installation of U7 / SI is several years old, and I had installed an even older version of the Keyring mod in the past to it (without getting time to play it).....
What I might do, is uninstall everything, and reinstall, then try using the same saved games. I am using the Ultima Collection CD.
Also, I had changed some portraits in faces.vga, but that was only in SI. My intention is to play through U7 BG, then Underworld II, and then SI to re-immerse myself in the plot.

Old saves are a more common source of problems than old instalkations of the games

Well, these were new saved games, but I do take your meaning.
Since it worked for you, maybe a fresh uninstall / install of U7 will work.

After installing the updated Keyring mod files, the dragon in the FOV now does as it is supposed to. The first time I tried it, it didn't work. I targeted her head with Arcadean. I tried it a second time, and targeted her back hip right after she went invisible, this triggered the proper conversation, and completion of the courage quest. Yay!
Thanks Dominus!
Since the signed Lock Lake scroll appears to have been lost by Miranda, is there another way to trigger the Lock lake clean up?

I think the bill thing is just a meesed up usecode script in the original. if you search for that here (more than the last 30 days
) then you will probably find discussions about this.
The bill is signed even though not aknowledged. The lake should gradually be cleaned. Not at once but gradually (and only with the mod
)
