Question about npcs

when I go in to alter npcs in exult, there is an option to make them apart of your party... only those who are technically supposed to be apart of your party are able to be. Even though each npc has stats and a paperdoll, why aren't you able to "party" them? I personally think it would be cool to be able to party any npc...ya know, an army of townfolk...lord british and some of the finest mages...an army of The British royal guard...

They are given a default paperdoll exactly for that reason.

push cntl + alt + p in the game using exult...

anyways...yeah, even if you just use a default paperdoll it would work. But guards default paperdoll is different than just normal peoples paperdoll...so would it be possible to create that? And if you guys can't can you give me some guidance in where to look in the source code to do this?
