Scaling set too high - HELP!

I've gone and done something stupid. I got the game up and running and was fooling with the video settings for optimum performance. I found that Point at 320x200 and scaling 2X worked best. I then decided to see what would happen if I set the resolution to 800X600 and inadvertantly hit scaling 2X. At that point, I could no longer reach the setting controls to turn it back. The window that opens for the settings was too far off the screen (due to the maximised size) and I could not drag it up.

I had to go out for a bit so I shut own, figuring that I'd fix it later. When I went back into Exult, the window was small and in the upper right hand corner. So now - I can't see the options so I don't know where I am in the intro! I get to the settings occasionally and I get the main screen but I can't Journey Onward because I can't see the options.

I figure that once I'm back into the game, I will be able to go back into the video settings to hange the scaling back.

Any ideas?

Thank a lot.

Sure. Just look in your exult.cfg file for "", and you'll see the setting (2) below. Change it back to a 1. (There may be more than one of these, one for BG and one for SI.)

Couldn't you just resize the screen with the monitor and do it?

What would changing the scaling have to do with his problem. As far as I could tell changing the scaling just affects the quality. He's running in Windowed mode, soooooo...

Without monitor info we have to assume his monitor maxes out at a low resolution. I would go into the exult.cfg file and change the and values to the appropriate settings. In your case 300 and 200. I recommend doing a FIND (F3) for the words WIDTH and HEIGHT.

Changing the scaling changes the scale.

Skutarth: maybe because his monitor cannot see 1600x1200 (800x600x2)
Eric: the scaling level is a multiplication factor by which each pixel is enlarged
