Usability of current Exult

Dear Exult team,
In the context of the news currently published on the official website's main page, I'd like to ask about the usability of the current revisions of Exult. I'm planning a playthrough for both U7 and SI (got both recently from GOG) and I'm curious if the latest snapshot, given the (quite serious?) bugs outlined in the news, is actually playable. If I make multiple saved games and be psychologically ready to revert to an older save if anything goes south, would it be possible for me to play through both U7 and SI (both with expansion packs) or will I eventually come across an issue that will ultimately render the game incompletable no matter what? If so, is there any known information about any particular revision that is known to be completable, even if with possible issues? If it's not currently possible to fully play through U7/SI without encountering game-breaking bugs using Exult, is it maybe a more viable option to play through these games using DosBox (as they are released on GOG.com), even though with a very old and dated DOS engine? Thank you very much in advance for your response.
Best regards.
