Ok, wondering if I can get any help here, Ive managed to get near the end of the game, ive fixed up Iolo, Shamino and Dupre, got all the serpent gear needed, and Xenka has returned. I went to the isle of crypts and talked to the great balance heirophant, then he sent me to speak to the heirophant of chaos (using summon shade). I talked to him, and went through all the conversation options ect and finished the conversation (he gave me the scroll since me being a petty mortal, im likely to forget).

So I wandered for a while not having a clue what to do next, so I looked at a bunch of walkthroughs, they all said that the "sacrifice" option should be there when I speak to Xenka, but it isnt!

The only problem I can think of is that when I first went to the icy north, in one of caves had the heirophant of chaos in it (bug?), So I did the chat to him twice.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix my game? Ive gotten pretty far, and it would be awful to lose it now (my old savegames are too old).

So perhaps I could get a savegame or a suggestion of how to fix this from someone?

I think you have to do something (maybe speak with someone else) before you get the option.
I' sure we discussed this here before but it must have been before the last time we lost our forum database...

Well, as far as I know, the two people you had to talk to were the chaos and order hierophants who you talk to via the "summon shade" spell. Most people are dead and ive already talked to every monk on monk isle, and most people remaining in moonshade.

And ive done the part where Sethys(sp) joins you and leads you to the resting place of the chaos hierophant, but dies as the years cath up to him leaving the shrine.

Ive also noticed that there is a "npc editor" and "flag editor" in the F2 menu, perhaps I could somehow force my way through my changing a flag or some npc settings?

I had this problem for 3 times in the original game. I played from the beginning to this point and I think I talked to every person possible. Thought it might be a bug in my version though.. Even if it is not, my old savegames wont work, so I dont bother anymore. But the reason behind it would still be interesting.

I think the problem turned out to be that the game didn't recognize the Serpent Staff had been picked up the last time we saw this problem.

Ah, yes, you seem to be right. It is a problem with the serpent staff, ive got it working now. In my haste getting back to where I was previously (a year ago) I grabbed the staff from a chest on cat (claw?) isle. Heheh, they seem to be right about the "Cheaters never win" part. I didnt know where to find it, but I looked in a walkthrough and grabbed it from furnace, and all is now good!

yeah, never thought that the cheater staff would pose a problem.

I am having a similar problem. I have all 3 serpent staffs but I cancnever get the First Heirophant or the Chaos Heirophant to appear and talk to me. ANy ideas?

you need some of the other serpent artifacts as well.
Serpent Armor, Serpent Staff, Serpent earrings, Serpent Amulet...

According to the walkthru I am looking at, I shouldn't get the armor until later. I have the earring, necklace, and ring and all 3 of the blackrock serpents. I also have the chaos serpent eye, which you are supposed to get prior to talking to the first Heirophant. When I go back to his crypt and attempt to sumon him, nothing happens. If I go forward to the Chaos Heirophant, nothing happens there either. I have looked over a copy of the walkthru and I seen to have everything I am supposed to have. Any other ideas?

but at least you should have picked up the serpent staff. It is in the caves next to monitor. And with that item you should be set to go...

Can you be specific as to what staff this is and where it is? I do not remember seeing this. Was this in the secret caves of the treasurer that gets tossed in jail? It isn't one of the blackrock serpent staffs? There are only 3 of those correct?

It's the Serpent Staff. If your walkthrough didn't mention it before, toss your walkthrough away. It's no good then.

ok, I went back and got the staff. Still no Heirophant. Any more ideas? I really like this game and would love to finish it, but with all of these problems I've had, it isn't looking too good. Any help would be appreciated.

I figured out the problem. You have to open the crypt and actually stand to the right of the body and cast summon shade directly on the body. Then it works. Thanks for helping out! Perhaps this should be noted for the next poor person that comes across this issue.

Congratulations, that you solved your problem.. though I never cheated so I still dont understand why it doesnt work for me.. perhaps because I always get the staff at the beginning of the game?

If you have the staff and crown when you speak to him, it is fine. He says it is great that you have them. I didn't cheat either. If you look at a walkthru to be sure you aren't missing an item, it is a good idea. I found my problem to be that I wasn't casting the summon shade DIRECTLY on the body. You have to open the crypt so the body is exposed and then walk half way up along the right side of the crypt. When you cast the summon shade, it should appear to occur near the body. That worked for me. If I recall correctly, I had the earring, necklace and ring on at the time. Try that. If it doesn't work, I will send you my savegame and you can have a look at my inventory to see if it will work for you. Let me know.
