Wierd that you guys ported U7 - I was one of the original developers.

Those screenshots of the user interface systems were largely what I worked on!

Back to my nightmares.....

Mr.Mike.

Can I have a copy of the source?

Well, someone had to ask. ;)

Nice to have you visit.

I always think it is strange when I see somebody else working on "my" code. Of course, here it's just a clone, as nobody has the original code I worked with.

I once found about 200mb of source from a former employer on my laptop. Of course, I had to erase it. But I wondered if I would regret it later when the company was gone and the source was lost.

Last week I met the programmer of the game "Adventure" for the Atari 2600. He figured Atari still had his source "in their vaults". I had to break it to him that "the vaults" don't really exist anymore.

Welcome, Mr.Mike! I think it's great when one of the 'implementors' drops us a note.

How does it feel to have worked on a classic? We didn't just port Ultima7, but wrote a whole new engine (>100K lines-of-code), which shows how crazy we are about the game (or maybe, that we're just generally nuts).

Adventure on the 2600. Man, I loved that game. I would play it for hours on end.

Bastard red dragon!

I still have it too. (The atari and games that is).

So, that brings the number of people that were involved with the original devlopment of U7, that have contacted us, up to 3. :-)

MV: What exactly would you do with the source if you had it?

btw,

don't you think that if the guy was really a u7 developer, he would not make a childish spelling error, like wierd instead of weird?

No offense meant... just a legitimate question: is the guy really who he says he is.

My opinion Mr Mike is the real Mike McShaffry. Take a look at my spelling/typing (according to Exultbot). English is my first language, and I'm one of the Exult programmers, and my spelling is shocking.

A number or reasons (though not exactly concrete evidence)
1) He was infact the Gump programmer for the originals
2) Mr Mike is his 'name' from thte U8 Quotes
3) Traceroot reveals he lives in the right city

For me, it's too coincidental to think that he's not who he says he is.

Colourless:

I'm not MV, but if I could, I'd love to have a hand on the source too. At last, we might get a clue of what the weapon.dat file is all about! Don't you agree? ;)

Yes, that is Mike McShaffry from the U7 team. We've heard from 5-6 of the original developers.

Colourless, if I had it, I'd share it with you all.
