Compiling Snapshots

Please forgive me if I'm asking an incredibly simple question, but I'm reasonably new to this whole scene. =/

Anyway, I was wondering how one goes about compiling/installing snapshots? I was hoping to be able to use the 1.0.x version of Exult but I have no idea how to 'install' it. I have read the FAQ and the documentation and I am still lacking in ideas.

Any friendly advice would be wonderfully appreciated. If it is too overly complicated then feel free to tell me so and I will be happy enough to wait until the official release of version 1.0, I was just wondering if it was simple enough for me to do instead.

Many thanks. *beaming smile*

It all depends on what system you are using.
If you are using Windows you can just download the snapshots and install that. The snapshots are done every day (of course only if something actually changed).

If you really want to compile it yourself there are instructions in the sourcecode (as mentioned in the FAQ
http://exult.info/faq.php#compile_snapshot).
Lookout for all the readme.*
Actually those are just for the Unix based systems and Win32 yet...

Oh, OK. Thanks very much Dominus.

Sorry, I neglected to mention I am using Windows XP.

I ended up downloading the 1.0.x snapshot (the Win binary exe?) and it went through its install procedure, but when checking the version number of Exult in-game it still says version .99. It also says .99 on the Exult main menu as well. Is that normal?

Thanks for your patience. *grin*

Kind Regards.

As there is no official 1.0 release we are still in the pre-1.0 phase. The FAQ also mentions that the 1.0 branch will become the 1.0 release.
