Mountains of Freedom

Whenever Filbercio sends me to the Mountains of Freedom, the game freezes up--well actually, I freeze while everything else moves normally. I had Exult 0.99 installed and the automaton would talk to me and when he left me I could do nothing. The subsequent versions have not helped; he no longer even talks to me! Is this a problem with the version of Serpent Isle (and not the version of Exult). I thought it might be about the version of Exult because I noticed that with the newer versions of Exult I could fight Luther, whereas in version 0.99 the game froze. Please help, thanks.

A known problem with Exult. It's in our bug tracker. With newer snapshots you should at least be able to move.
Or try saving and reloading when you are frozen.
It is not a problem with your SI.

Yes, it's pretty annoying. It's a sure fire show stopper.

I actually got to move around once when I tried the newest 1.0.x branch. It actually, just that once, stipped my items from my properly and let me walk, but the automaton didn't recognise I was there.

Any more game loads resulted in what usually happens:

Just sends me there and I still have all my stuff on, and the cursor is a hand.

BTW, every time, Iolo, Shamino, and Dupre never are in the trial either. Their seat is empty.

Can I just skip this scene altogether and continue the game farther on? I found that when I use the teleporter by cheating and going on the teleporter by my own will, it works fine. Is there a way to edit the flag so that when I hit the spot where the teleporter is supposed to be, I don't go to the Mountains of Freedom? I could then just teleport "manually" just fine with the teleportor moved out of the way. Thanks for your help.

Aram, please first try the 1.0.x snapshot to do this scene!
What might happen is that the automaton won't speak to you but you should be able to move and manually speak to him and proceed with the game.
Doing the whole teleporter thing manually won't work.

Or you could wait until this is fixed.

Just today, I fixed the bug that prevented the Automaton from talking to you when you arrive. But (in the 1.1x branch)... I still haven't seen the problem where you can't move, and I've played through that section about a dozen times today. It's pretty frustrating.

I tried it with the Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000 binary snapshot of version 1.1 and it didn't work (I tried saving and reloading as well), so I think I'll just wait. Is there anyway I can help expedite this project?

I've tried 1.0.x and 1.1.x

Only once, and I mean once, in the 1.0 snap, I was able to walk and my items were taken from me as they should.

I'll go to see if there are any new downloads........

I just tried both of the 20-9-2002 snaps.

The 1.1.x, the automaton talked, but I couldn't move, and I still had all my inventory.

The 1.0.x, the automaton ignored me, and I couldn't move, and I still had all my stuff.

I'll look at the code again today. The inventory and not-being-able-to-move are symptoms of the same problem, which is that a piece of usecode (script) isn't being executed just before you're teleported.

Try the 1.1x snapshot tomorrow and please let us know if the problem is fixed, as I just checked in an experimental change. If it doesn't seem to break anything, I'll make the same changes to the 1.0x code as well.

It's working so far. Thanks. The only thing still is that Iolo, shamino, and dupre don't attend the trial. Their seat is still empty. Small point, but it's still a thing that needs to be fixed for visuals only.

Okay. I haven't even looked at that problem yet, but I'll do that next.

The companions should start showing up in the next snapshots.
