Recommended downloads?

I am bit confused while looking at the download page.
it's gone a long time, since i visited the exult page and now it's all huge and full...

i cant look at the DOCUMENTATION here on the page, its wrecked obvisouly...

i have the Ultima Collection CD , Win2k and a Creative Soundblaster Audigy Player. i heard that there can be problems with it...

so, what files must i download, to get the best Ultima 7 BG experience?

i have read the FAQ, but my english isnt that good and i dont found exactly the solution for my problem with the soundfiles, sorry for opening a thread for this

download the 1.1x snapshot.

To get sounds while running the game, download the MT-32 soundpacks for Black gate and Serpent Isle.

For best music results download the two ogg music packs.

ok my SOUND PROBLEM:

My OS is Windows2000 Service Pack 2 is installed. I have an Creative Audigy Player, latest drivers are installed.
i have the Ultima Collection CD installed with U7BG.
i have installed Exult 1.0.x Snapshot (Stable)
i have installed Sound pack for Black Gate (Roland MT-32).

ok, the game runs well, but the sound is very ugly and "high" (door sounds and birds sounds very bad...). The music is awful...
(i have played very long Ultima 7, so i can remember the correct music and sounds exactly )

Should i download Exult 1.1 (unstable) and install the OGG music?

Your soundcard should be capable of producing a fairly decent MIDI rendition of the original music. What soundbank are you loading ? What is the MIDI conversion ?

Regarding SFX: the original SFX were quite bad, but if they sound worse: what is the SFX conversion ? Are you sure it's loading the correct SFX ? Have you tried switching SFX pack ?

Can you post your exult.cfg and the first 30 lines of your stderr.txt and stdout.txt please ?
