Hello, all. I'm Brendan, one of the core developers of a project to reincarnate Bethesda Softworks's "The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall". I found Exult after being told about you by someone on the elderscrolls.com forums.
I have to admit that I wasn't in on the Ultima series, but it was only due to having grown up with other RPGs; I have absolutely nothing against Ultima or even much exposure to them to form any opinion on them. What I do know is that our projects aren't really that different. The spirit is the same; we love our games and we want to overcome their technological shortcomings so we can play them some more!
I just wanted, on behalf of the ReDF team, to salute your efforts and wish you best of luck. Maybe someday we'll even get to play each other's games (I know Exult isn't a remake, but the editor can make one!).
Please pay us a visit at http://www.m0use.net/~revisited and post on our fourms at http://www.m0use.net/~revisited/forums/index.php

Re: Hi from ReDF, the Daggerfall Revisited Project
Hi! Currently playing Morrowind here, and there's also a couple of Ultima remakes for that I want to check out. Dunno the URLS, but Redemption and Ultima Underworld I are out there somewhere.

cool a daggerfall-remake!
but, hmm when i think a bit longer about it:
for what a remake? is daggerfall better than morrowind? why making a remake, if there's a supreme sequel to it, that is at least good as the original?

Why remake Ultima 4 when we have Ultima 5 to 9? Same thing Each game offers something that the other doesn't...

Go to my website ( http://www.geocities.com/mitzenos/index.htm ) and go to the links page. The remakes are listed there with links to them (well, I didn't link to the UW remakes though).

Re: Hi from ReDF, the Daggerfall Revisited Project
Largely the reason is that DF offers a different experience than Morrowind. There is a project called Tamriel Rebuilt that aims to make mods for MW that cover the continent of Tamriel. There was talk about remaking the Iliac Bay area that DF is set it using the fabulous TES ConSet from MW, but there were.. problems.
There are no horses in Morrowind. Fast Travel requires going to transportation businesses, otherwise you have to walk (wildly impractical in a game world twice the size of the UK). We didn't agree with the way some skills were lumped together. There were otherings as well and we just decided it wouldn't be Daggerfall that way.
We're having a big irc chat this Friday at 21:00 GMT (9pm) on irc.m0use.net in channel #revisited. You folks are certainly invited. And if you have any trouble translating your local time to GMT, go to http://www.timezoneconverter/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc Currently the Central time zone in the United States is 6 hours behind GMT meaning that when it's 3pm in Central, it's 9pm in GMT
