SI FIXES - Changing NPC Names

Post by lazar0 »

Hi, too much time has passed since my last log in. :)

Ok, here it goes.

Now I'm checking the spanish translation I do for Serpent Isle, adapting SI FIXES to the translation, etc...

So, I WANT change this original names:

Leon -> León
Simon -> Simón

All right. With SI alone, all warks well, changing the original names in the file INITGAME.DAT I solve this change.

The problem here is when I try to use SI FIXES. I have translated the text strings, compiled it, passed the game, tested it, all ok.

BUT, when I click in Simon, I don't see "Simón" (it comes from original INITGAME.DAT), I see "Simon" yet.

Well... ¿how can I change the names of NPCs using SI FIXES? Changing it in npc.uc maybe?

Thanks a lot.

David.

As i've seen there is no need to change names in SI FIXES.

BUT the original release, includes the initgame.dat, and thus, invalidates the original INITGAME.DAT that comes with the game.

So, my question is, is this initgame.dat of SI FIXES mandatory to use for using the mod?

yes, initgame.dat is mandatory, as it's not just fixes for shapes and scripts but also on the map.
For example the Innkeepers close watching of what you do with the key is managed by eggs placed on the map that are not there without it.
So I guess you are playing without that intigame.dat
