I have a really dumb problem but i just can't seem to figure out how to sell items like weapons armore or gems things like that i have a lot of stuff but no way to sell it
when i talk to the merchant i only have an option of buying things no way to sell that i can see
so please some help would be apreciated

You can't just sell all your stuff to merchants in Ultima7 like in some other RPGs. Some merchants and other people will buy specific items from you, but they are rather the exception than the rule. You have to talk to people to find out what and if they will buy anything from you.
On a quick count I can think of 6 people in Black Gate that will buy something from you... in Serpent Isle I can think of only one at the moment, but he will buy more items from you.
I won't tell you who it is though. Wouldn't want to spoil your fun, would I?
