Batlin's Plan?

Post by Chris Schumacher »

Something just occured to me, Batlin wanted to walk into the void with the imprisoned banes. Was he trying to turn himself into the Chaos Serpent?

Not to my knowledge, as the Chaos serpent was infused in battle with the Order serpent. I think he was trying to take the place of Balance, thus take command of both energies - Chaos and Order.
This would provide him with immortality and infinite power.

I thought I responded to this?

Ah well.

Anyway, I think the banes were what he required to use with the blackrock chaos serpent he held to just open the wall of lights.

All Batlin wanted was power of that over the Guardian's.

This mixes me up a bit.

1.) Why does the Guardian pretend he was behind the whole thing when his right hand wanted to betray him? Is it because he used him to release the Banes and through them destroy the inhabitants of Serpent Isle, causing the foretold end of the world, and as a chain reaction it would destroy the rest of the universe?

2.) How does Batlin open the Wall of Lights if he has the wrong blackrock serpent? Batlin does say that the wall doesn't want to open for him, yet it appears to be open, and the Guardian does manage to kill him (signifying that the Wall of Lights -is- serving as a gateway between Serpent Isle and the void).

3.) Why can't you place the order serpent into the slot and open the Wall of Lights yourself?

4.) If the Wall of Lights serves as a gateway between the void and Serpent Isle, the Guardian could have used it to get to Serpent Isle, after which he could have gone to Britannia and conquered it. This might have been his plan, though strangely, we don't see him entering Serpent Isle like this (and he's still in the void in the endgame). To enter Serpent Isle after throwing the Avatar on Pagan, though, he'd still need someone to open the Wall of Lights, and perhaps if Blackthorn's involvement in U9 was true, it might have been Blackthorn who helped the Guardian enter Serpent Isle and hence Britannia. On the other hand, he didn't have the necessary equipment to open the Wall of Lights.

5.) I wonder why Batlin bothered to collect the Banes when he went to the wrong Wall of Lights. Must've been something the Guardian told him. If he went to the Chaos Wall of Lights and cremated Gwenno, he could have opened that Wall of Lights and entered the void through it, but then he would have restored the Chaos Serpent and I have no idea how that would have benefited him. On the other hand, it would have given the place of the Balance Serpent, as has been mentioned above, so he might have achieved his goal like this.
