I'm having problems getting U7 to load under the latest OS X binary. After installing Exult, I copy both ULTIMA7 and SERPENT folders over to the Exult folder on my HD. (I'm using the Ultima Collection CD-ROM).
When run, Exult seems to find both Blackgate and Serpent Isle. However, when I start a new game (e.g., in Blackgate), I briefly see the red-static loading screen, and then Exult "Unexpectedly Quits" to the desktop. I'm not able to find a crash log, so I don't know exactly what is going on. I've even tried to just copy Blackgate's STATIC folder over (without any Serpent Isle files), but that doesn't work either. Here is the path I'm using:
/Applications/Games/Exult/ULTIMA7
/Users/mrollins/.exult/
Aside from the game files (STATIC folder) and Exult, I have nothing else Exult-related installed. Do I need additional files? Do I need to copy my STATIC folder from my Windows machine (where Exult does work) over to my iBook? Could this be a permissions problem? If so, how do I fix it? It seems weird that I'm able to load Blackgate's title screen but can't get into the game itself.
I'm at my wits end -- I'm itching to play Exult on my laptop! Here's my system information:
iBook 900 w/ 640MB RAM
OS X 10.2.6
Airport Card
As you can see, this is a fairly standard system. I am using Path Finder as an alternative Finder. However, I've also tried loading Exult using the standard Finder, but no go.
Thanks for any help.

Re: OS X 1.1b2 (binary) Problem: U7 Won't Load!
You should have stdout.txt and stderr.txt files which contain some debugging output. Can you post them? Please also post your exult.cfg file.
Re: OS X 1.1b2 (binary) Problem: U7 Won't Load!
at first read I guess a path screw up in the exult.cfg file. Also please make sure that you don't copy BG and SI into the same dir.
To add to wjp's request for posts, please also write us the exact path of where you copied BG and SI to (e.g. /Applications/Games/Exult/ULTIMA7/bg and /Applications/Games/Exult/ULTIMA7/si ?)

It's Fixed...
Well, I decided delete Exult and my Ultima files from my system and try to do a fresh install. It works now. Not sure what I did wrong the first time.
Anyway, I have my paths setup as follows:
./ULTIMA7 (#for Blackgate -- STATIC folder is in this directory#)
./SERPENT (#for Serpent Isle -- STATIC folder is in this directory#)
One question: Do I need the .EXE, .COM, .BAT files (etc.) in the original ULTIMA7 directory, or just the STATIC folder? I kept the original files intact this time around and now it's working. I thought all I needed was the STATIC folder, but maybe I'm wrong.
Cheers for the help. Finally, I can play Ultima while in class!

Re: OS X 1.1b2 (binary) Problem: U7 Won't Load!
you need only the static folder. If you already started a game also keep the gamedat folder.
Glad it is now working for you.
