Hey All:
I have been following the Exult project for years and used to play it on my windows machine. I'm on Linux these days and am perplexed by the install.
Is there anyway to play U7 via Exult without using the original DOS install program thru an emulator?
Exult is the only program that I've ever needed an emulator for, and since WINE (in my experience) has been a holy bitch to set up, it just doesn't seem worth it.
I don't care if I have to unpack all the files and sort them by hand. I'm just looking for some direections to get my U7 data files running on linux. Can it be done?
If not, why not?
Please email,
Kevin

Re: Iinnstall exult on linux without WINE?
if you have the game on CD (Ultima Collection or Complete U7 CD-Rom) you don't need the installer at all. If you have the multiple disks version you best use the installer (maybe through Dosemu? Dosbox doesn't work). It could be though that the files are just in a multi-disk-zip (not named zip, I guess).

and btw, Exult is compiled natively on Linux, no need to use any kind of emulator.
