Transparent Color in Palette

Post by GrimLock Dragon »

Hello fine people!

I've been trying to import some photos for character portraits from Gimp. I have succeeded. However, I'm running into the problem of several pixels show up as transparent in the game. Is there a good way for me to isolate the transparent pixels in Gimp, and change their color to a similar non-transparent color from the palette? Can I have Gimp select all of the pixels with the transparent color value? A long time ago, I think I remember there being two colors that were transparent in the palette....

The last couple (ten or 12) colors of the palette are transparent. You can have gimp select all parts of a picture that are a certain color from the palette, I think

It's actually the last 15 colors...

Thanks Dominus. To correct the transparent, and shimmering pixels, I'm doing the following.

1. Take a screen shot in-game.
2. I compare the in-game image with the .shp file I created.
3. I locate a clear / shimmering pixel in the .shp file, and select one. This shows what transparent color it is in the Palette box.
4. I then use the select-by-color option to select all blocks of the same transparent color.
5. I Eyeball the transparent color with a real color inside the palette.
6. Use paint can to fill all like pixels with the proper solid color.

Well, it works. :)
