Why don't Magic Boots add anything?
I was fiddling with some shape settings, and I'm curious why don't Magic Boots add anything of value beyond what other boots do?
In other words, what is Magic about them?
Since in SI they are limited to the same armour level as the other frames in that shape, they should provide additional protection from cold and swamps.

Can't agree more, they should provide more protection.
I always wondered the same thing, and have never used them in my play-throughs. Leather boots look much comfier anyway.

What dost thou mean, they don't add anything? Why, they are shiny and sparkly and are a feast for thine eyes.
Re: Why don't Magic Boots add anything?
Well, there's our answer I guess.
They're meant for the fashionable, new age knight, who'd rather poke an enemy's eyes out with their magnificent ensemble, rich colour schemes, and style, than actually poke an enemy's eyes out.
"Fight the enemy? Good lord, what a dreadful idea. I am not getting blood all over my sparkling new boots. Do you know how much these cost?"
"Probably not that much, oh exalted one, since they're lying around all over the place."
*picks up a rock, revealing a pair of magic boots*
"Case and point, my lord."
It is indeed strange that magic boots are probably the most numerous in both The Black Gate and Serpent Isle, with the exception of Leather Boots. Regular steel boots are an absolute rarity.

Thou dost not understand, thy magical boots are eternally shiny, despite how many gallons of blood splatter upon them.

@Incriptus: I guess that's handy. After a long day of fighting and dragging your feet through the mud, you can just go home and enter your keep without having to wipe first and thus avoiding the wrath of the missus. Two fights in one day is after all a bit much.
@KC: Sure?
@Dominus: I imagine the boots are padded, just like the magic/steel boots.
Wearing steel boots while bare-foot would also not be a pleasant experience, methinks.

Seems that you're better off just using the swamp boots, same defense rating and protects you from swamps right? And are they considered "warm" too?

Nope, swamp boots don't protect against the cold.
Re: Why don't Magic Boots add anything?
Actually, this reminds me, this wiki has warmth values for every piece of armour in Serpent Isle:
http://wiki.ultimacodex.com/wiki/Armour ... I_Part_Two
If correct, then you could technically wear swamp boots (-15 warmth when compared to fur boots) and, for example, leather armour (+15 warmth when compared to magic armour), and not freeze to death.
I never tried it out.
