I am using the Beta. I downloaded both SFX packages, and placed each FLX file into its relevant folder. jmsfx.flx into Black Gate, jmsisfx.flx into Serpent.
When Exult fires up, the Black Gate SFX icon is clear. The SI one has the Cross over it.
Exult.cfg is in the blackgate folder, but the path settings for SI should work fine-exult picks up on them okay, allowing me to play SI or BG. Why would it ignore the SFX package?
Bloody hell! Now SI refuses to play SFX

Re: Bloody hell! Now SI refuses to play SFX
umm, the exult.cfg has the wrong filename specified for the SI pack.
the package from the site is named jmsisfx.flx
while the exult.cfg speficied jmsfxsi.flx.

Re: Bloody hell! Now SI refuses to play SFX
No, the exult.cfg does have
c:\ultima\serpent
(default)
jmsisfx.flx
with the proper path and filename. Exult just refuses to acknowlege it.

Re: Bloody hell! Now SI refuses to play SFX
In what directory did you put jmsisfx.flx? It should be in the same dir as exult.flx, exult_bg.flx and exult_si.flx
Re: Bloody hell! Now SI refuses to play SFX
I fixed this by putting jmsisfx into the Ultima7 directory. I don't know why exult.cfg refused the serpent path.
Re: Bloody hell! Now SI refuses to play SFX
Exult doesn't look for the wav pack in the game directory. Only in the current directory and the data directory. (The data directory is the 'proper' place for it)
