Question about running Exult and U7 on a OS 8.6

Post by Ravenous Dragon »

Hiya everyone

I'd like to play U7 on this iMac, but I can't figure out how. Apparently, U7 makes some files the first time you run it on a PC, and I can't make it do that on a Mac.

Could anyone tell me how to get it working without having a PC? I really don't have access to one right now.

Thanks!

This depends on which version of U7 you have. Some (Ultima Collection, and maybe others) have the unpacked data on the CD.

Oh, btw, the only things you need for exult to work is the 'static' directory, and all the files in it.

I would invest in a copy of Virtual PC, if I were you.

Actually, if I were you, I would fling the iMac at the nearest brick
wall, but I digress. :)

In my opinion, running Virtual PC on a Mac is like pouring grease into your DVD player. Why run something substandard on a superior machine if you don't have to?

Some superior machine if it didn't have Ultima 7 on it. :)

Okay, I'll give this a shot. I have the Ultima Collection version, so I must just be missing something somewhere.

Thanks for the info anyways. =)

So I guess you'd say the same thing about Linux?

Let's not be foolish here.

Hey, if Ultima 7 is the standard for being a 'superior machine' I sure as hell would say the same thing ;)

However, otherwise I wouldn't.

I wouldn't say the same about Linux because Linux is not a machine.

Could anyone tell me what the files are exactly that U7 generates so I can be sure I have them?

Thanks...,

You just need the 'static' directory to be able to use exult.
