That when you find Shamino in Britain in BG, that he's naked except
for a sword and shield? Just what kind of tavern was that he was in,
anyway?

Probably. Its this way with most characters in the game.
Since paperdolls were not in BG originally, persons joinng you never *looked* naked, though.

Yeah, that's exactly why I hadn't noticed it until now, because now I
actually see him in that combination t-shirt/underwear thing that Britannians
like to wear.

Yes, he was like that in the original. The idea is that he's just wearing normal clothing + a sword and shield. Hell, Jaana and Katrina don't have any clothes, either, nor Julia....

In fact, if you use the pickpocket cheat, you'll see that just about everybody's naked. Hell, even Geoffrey, Gorn, Mariah, LB, and Natassia are naked!
