Serpent Isle - Caves Next to Sham's Castle

There is a puzzle in these caves where you keep climbing up or going down four stairs in four corners..

For those who remember..how do you solve this puzzle and what it leads to?

If you are talking about the cave that has the entrance behind the tree stumps, then all it leads to is inside the castle. At the kitchen I think.

But nothing a couple of well placed telekinesis won't fix on the castle gates either.

I know what you mean, but AFAIK you climb down/up and end up in the room you were before.

I think there was a solution.. written in the hintbook Balancing the Scales but I lent it and lost it long ago. Who has the hintbook and can check it out?
